About the Artist

ANTONIO YSURSA was born in Idaho to immigrant parents, beginning his photography career by drawing inspiration from his familial and cultural heritage. His first long-term projects—Memory Stirred and If I Forget You, Rosario—explore the connected themes of time, memory, and loss. More recently, he published his first monograph titled Charcoal Papers: a seven-part character study and an exploration of black and white as a medium.

Antonio's love of literature has become entwined in his photographic approach; he seeks to create narratives in his work, while making images that are at once timeless, modern, layered, and emotionally evocative. Antonio lives in New York where he works in fashion and portraiture, while simultaneously continuing his personal fine-art projects.  His recent clients include Levi’s, Theory, Vince, Agmes, Lorod, Vogue Portugal, and Odda magazine, among others.
